6000 ha large wilderness area. For an experienced hiker. The topography of the area is quite low excluding some hills. There are lots of ponds, rivers and brooks. There are some marked trails. The Eastern Boarder Hiking Trail (Itärajan retkeilyreitti) passes the area of Martinselkonen. Services: three lean-to shelters, three fireplaces, two wilderness cabins and Martinselkonen Wild Centre (Tel: Int. +358 (0)8 736 160) which offers accommodation, programme and food services.
